Laid D.1 Silicone

The Laid D.1 Silicone dildo is a sex toy with a curved shaft and an asymmetrical slant to both its useable ends. This double-ended dildo’s heads are both designed with vaginal penetration in mind, as well as to offer a perfect grip whilst stimulating the G-spot. The Laid dildo is one-of-a-kind, appearing relatively simplistic, yet innovatively contoured for maximum pleasure. The Laid D.1 is also available in stone; I’ll briefly cover the main differences between the two versions. Although different, both are exceptionally functional when stimulating the G-spot.

The Laid D.1 Silicone arrives in a sturdy cardboard tray with a cardboard sleeve covering it. The sleeve has a small amount of product information on it and a silhouetted image of the dildo. According to the packaging the D.1 Silicone weighs a hefty 170 g. The packaging is very modern in style. As you slide the sleeve away from the tray, you find the dildo resting in a high quality foam insert that has the brand name printed on it. Around this is a semitransparent band, instructing you to hook and pull it gently to lift the insert and gain access to the user manual, a one year warranty, certificate of authenticity, and a sample tube of lubricant. On the underneath of the foam you will find a cut-out compartment containing the lubricant and a packet of silica gel. The lubricant is water-based and the ingredients are as follows:

Aqua, Glycerin, Ethoxydiglycol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Citric Acid, Benzyl Alcohol/Methylisothiazolinone/Methylchloroisothiazolinone.

I haven’t used the lubricant as I tend to avoid lubricants which contain alcohol and glycerine, as they normally upset my natural vaginal PH balance.

The silicone D.1 is 7.9 inches in length, with a maximum of 4.5 inches of circumference at its widest point. The silicone shaft is curved and firm, with some flexibility and bounce around its midriff. You can use either end of the lopsided D.1 Silicone dildo for vaginal penetration, however one end tapers to a point while the other is much broader. The broad side is blunted and better designed for firm G-spot stimulation, whereas the pointed end is ideal for foreplay and deeper A-spot stimulation. The toy is relatively heavy, but the asymmetrical shape means that, no matter which end protrudes from the vaginal orifice, you still have a comfortable and easy to control grip, regardless of whether you are a left or right hander. The product is made from luxuriously smooth silicone. Stamped into the pointed end your will find the brand name and, in a larger font, the product designation ‘D.1’. This is hardly noticeable texture-wise, and I doubt many will find it stimulating or irritating upon insertion. The instructions state how the blunt end can offer varied pressure depending how one places it onto the G-spot – apparently you are able to have the option of a broad surface area or a more rounded pin-point area at a twist of the hand, meaning that you can alternate stimulation rhythmically via simply twisting the toy back and forth.

The Laid D.1 Stone arrived with different instructions, which I feel are worth repeating here as they could help you find your G-spot easier. I’m a little miffed that this information hasn’t been provided with the silicone version, especially as the toy’s shape is the same. As you insert the blunted end vaginally, you may experience your body naturally resisting as the shaft penetrates the vaginal opening. When this resistance subsides, slowly and gently start to pull out the shaft, until you feel your pelvic floor muscles resisting against the motion. Stop withdrawing the shaft and gently press the external end down as if it was a lever. You should find the toy’s head is now perfectly positioned upon your G-spot. Use the toy in a back-and-forth twisting motion, an up and down rocking motion, or a standard thrusting motion.

When using the toy I found inserting the pointed end worked best for foreplay, as the blunter end needed additional foreplay prior to insertion. The silicone needed extra lubrication prior to insertion, even though it didn’t cause as much friction compared to some other types. The pointed end worked well for deeper stimulation, particularly as the shaft gradually expanded towards the centre of the dildo, with the bulge offering some mild G-spot stimulation. The pointed tip was able to stimulate my A-spot; however, due to it being pinpointed, it would occasionally cause some uncomfortable prodding sensations. When using the tapered, pointed end I found that I was only really able to use it in a thrusting motion. Although mostly pleasant, it wasn’t the correct shape to entice G-spot climax.

Once my body was warmed-up with the addition of foreplay and water-based lubrication, I was able to comfortably insert the blunter end of the dildo. Even without following the instructions listed above, the head of the dildo almost always naturally worked its way towards my G-spot; it’s almost as if my pelvic floor muscles naturally drag the shaft inside me as if it was an integral part of my genitals. The toy feels as if it’s filling a void within me and its shaft is easy to control as I use it in a thrusting motion, and my pelvic floor muscles naturally propel it into action. This toy feels like it has a life of its own, and I don’t often need to apply much manual pressure, meaning I’m able to just enjoy the experience of the session, more than with most manual toys. The slight flexibility of the silicone shaft allows the head of the product to bounce off my G-spot rhythmically, without fear of internal bruising. Just thrusting with this toy always leads to a euphoric experience. When applying a back-and-forth twisting motion the sensations because more intense, as the product applies more forceful bursts of pressure upon my G-spot. Although the twisting motions bring on climax sooner, I actually prefer the slightly longer thrusting motions, as the plateau at the summit, once achieved, is just amazing.

Before I received the Laid D.1 Silicone, I already owned the D.1 Stone dildo. Although the shape of the dildos is very similar, there are some differences. Both toy’s blunted ends are excellent G-spot massagers; however you have to be more cautious with the stone version, due to its weight and rigidity. The stone version glides in and out of the body easier, and doesn’t tend to need the addition of lubrication, but due to this its momentum propels it back and forth more, making it harder to stop once it gets in full swing. This is especially the case when it is wet. My pelvic floor muscles aren’t able to grip onto its frictionless surface when compared to the silicone. On occasion, although I really like the stone version, I have used it too boisterously and ended up bruising my cervix. Also, the stone version only has one useable end, as the pin-point end has a rougher surface, which can cause tearing to the vaginal walls if inserted. I still don’t understand why Laid left this end slightly unpolished as I can almost guarantee that someone out there won’t read the provided instructions, and therefore end up with internal tearing. With the silicone version you can use either end without any worry about internal damage. Finally, the silicone version, albeit not as aesthetically pleasing, is a lot cheaper compared to the stone version, and an extremely functional dildo.

Cleaning the Laid D.1 Silicone dildo is simple as it’s made from hypoallergenic, medical grade silicone. Simply wash it in warm water and antibacterial soap, place it into a dishwasher, sterilise it, bleach it, or put it into a saucepan and boil it. The toy’s shape also allows you to easily place a condom over it if you intend to share it with a lover, or just want an easier way to maintain its cleanliness.

Overall, the Silicone Laid D.1 hasn’t let me down, and I’m glad I have it in my collection. For such a simple looking device, a lot of thought has gone into its quirky shape and its balanced weight distribution, which propels this toy to the top of my list when it comes to gratifying G-spot stimulators. I thoroughly recommend the Silicone D.1 dildo to both novice and more advanced sex toy users.
